My Photo on Canvas
I've always loved the look of photos on canvas, and a few weeks ago, I jumped at the chance to win a canvas print from Easy Canvas Prints. I really didn't expect to win since I hadn't entered my picture until late in the contest, but with a lot of help from friends and fans on Facebook, I won a free 8x10. :) This week, my canvas came in the mail. I love how it turned out! Now I just need a wall to hang it on. :)

The Thankful Tree
I ran across the idea for this "Thankful Tree" a few months ago on this blog. Today I decided to create my own. I cut a few branches off of a bush we have out front, stripped the leaves and put the branches in a canning jar. Then I dug out my scrap paper and punched the circles using a 2" circle punch that I borrowed from my neighbor. :) Now we just need to write little notes of thanks on all of the "leaves".

"Be Still and Know"
Another new design. I just love the colors of fall in Missouri. I took this one a few weeks ago, as the yellows were starting to emerge. Now everything is starting to turn red, orange and gold. :D

Into the Mist
I took this photo on my way to work this morning. What is it about railroad tracks that are so neat to photograph? I haven't figured it out, but I do like to take pictures of them. :) Today Saginaw Valley was filled with a layer of fog and I liked how the tracks seemed to disappear into the mist. What would have been really special is if a train had come along just then. I would have hopped right off those tracks, but hopefully caught a shot of it, before it got too close. :)

"A Time and Season"
I was reminded of Ecclesiastes 3 a few weeks ago when a friend posted the music video below on her blog. I love the song and when I found this dandelion photo, that I took last year, among my many files that I was attempting to organize, I decided to put it with Ecclesiastes 3:1. I didn't end up getting very far in the organization project since I got distracted, but that's ok, I got to put another little bit of God's Word on one of my photos of His creation. :D

Fun with CS3
Tonight I was playing around in Photoshop. I took this photo of some antique books earlier today and wanted to see what I could come up with to make it look vintage. I found this tutorial and set to work. I like how it turned out, and it was pretty easy. I didn't do everything like the tutorial. I used a "Seventies" action, to edit the coloring of the photo, instead of following that section of the tutorial. Along the way I learned a few things in Photoshop. There are a lot of features that I haven't used before. :D

Pink Zinnia with CS3
Original Photo |
I like the new computer for many reasons, but the main reason is that now I can put some Photoshop actions into use that never would work on Photoshop 7.
Here is one of my photographs that I was playing around with a week or so ago. Now I can't remember what I actually did to it, but I like the results. What do you think?

My First Art Show
Thursday, I participated in my very first Art Show, at our downtown Third Thursday Art Walk. :) It was a great experience and I appreciate everyone who stopped by my table.
Here are a few pictures of my set up.

ΙΧΘΥΣ
I had never actually looked up what the Ichthys meant before today. I have known about it, but hadn't had a clear understanding of exactly what it meant. When out on my spring photo shoot a few days ago, I saw it on our neighbor's vehicle. I quickly snapped this shot and continued on my way (I didn't want the neighbor to get suspicious. :)) Today I remembered the photo and decided to look it up and the idea for this design came to me.
Here's some information I found on Wikipedia,
"Ichthys can be read as an acrostic, a word formed from the first letters of several words. It compiles to "Jesus Christ God's son Savior" in ancient Greek "Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ", Iēsous Christos, Theou Huios, Sōtēr.

- Iota (i) is the first letter of Iēsous (Ἰησοῦς), Greek for "Jesus".
- Chi (ch) is the first letter of Christos (Χριστός), Greek for "anointed".
- Theta (th) is the first letter of Theou (Θεοῦ), Greek for "God's", the genitive case of Θεóς, Theos, Greek for "God".
- Upsilon (u) is the first letter of huios (Υἱός), Greek for "Son".
- Sigma (s) is the first letter of sōtēr (Σωτήρ), Greek for "Savior".

Forever -- Isaiah 40:8
I took this photo a few days ago. I wasn't thinking of this verse at the time, but when I got home and processed the photo it reminded me of this verse. I have another design with this verse, but I like this one much better. There's just something about that lone blade of grass standing strong. :)
