Precious Christmas Gift

 What a precious Christmas gift our family received this year. :)
My sweet niece was born on December 23rd. I'm enjoying her immensely! I have other nieces and nephews, but now I have one living in the same town as I live. It's been so fun to be able to see her and photograph her this past week. :)

I found these cute little yellow flowers growing on the end of an ugly weed, along our sidewalk. I guess when you allow the weeds to grow, you realize that even the ugly weeds have their own prettiness. 

 

Watermelon Time

Now watermelon time is here.
And when the day 
Is warm and clear,
Our uncle thumps 
The green balloon
And says it's ripe
And very soon
A splash of pink 
Comes into view.
We know exactly 
What to do.
We take a bit.
We take a bite.
We eat and eat 
And taste the summer,
Pink and sweet.
